Learning Experience Assessment

Responsibilities for the Learning Experience include your participation in

  1. A seminar meeting with me in advance of the class learning experience
  2. The planning of the class learning experience;
  3. The teaching of the class learning experience; and
  4. Authoring and posting an essay about the learning experience to your WebLog (~ 750 words)

Exceeding | In responding to the Learning Experience assignment prompt, the writer demonstrates a rigorous and in-depth understanding of content and purpose through the development and support of their blog post. Appropriate organization and style is evident. [5 grade points]

Meeting | In responding to the Lx prompt, the writer demonstrates a thorough understanding of content and purpose through the development and support of their blog post. Appropriate organization and style is evident. [3 grade points]

Approaching | In responding to the Lx prompt, the writer demonstrates an awareness of content and purpose and attempts to develop and support their blog post. Appropriate organization and style is evident. [1 grade point]

Needing Improvement | In responding to the Lx prompt, the writer demonstrates minimal or no attention to content and purpose. Blog post topic may be unsuitable, and/or the writer may not develop or support an argument. Appropriate organization and style might not be evident. [0 grade point]

Learning Experience Assessment Rubric

Exceeding | The teacher demonstrates a rigorous and in-depth understanding of context, purpose and content knowledge evidenced by the design and teaching of an effective sequence of learning experiences germane to the assigned reading. [5 grade points]

Meeting | The teacher demonstrates a thoughtful understanding of context, purpose and content knowledge evidenced by the design and teaching of a helpful sequence of learning experiences applicable to the assigned reading. [3 grade points]

Approaching | The teacher demonstrates an awareness of context, purpose and content knowledge evidenced by the design and teaching of a sequence of learning experiences related to the assigned reading. [1 grade points]

Needing Improvement | The teacher demonstrates minimal or no attention to context and purpose in selecting a topic and/or the topic may be unsuitable, and/or the teacher may not develop or support the topic through appropriate planning or organization evidenced by the teaching of learning experiences unrelated to the assigned reading.[0 grade point]
